Biography
My primary interest in photography is on capturing elements of nature-primarily flowers, wildlife, and landscapes. A substantial amount of my work involves extremely close-up photography of flowers which reveal the beauty and intricacy of even their smallest elements. Most of my flower photography comes from flowers grown in my own landscape. I plant items in my landscape which will also attract other photography specimens such as butterflies, insects and wildlife
I don’t consciously try to make a statement through my photography. To the extent there is a subconscious statement because of my choice of subjects, it is the incredible beauty of nature even in its most minute form.
I attribute my affinity for nature in all its forms to my growing up on the grounds of Herrington Manor State Park in Garrett County, Maryland, where my father was the Superintendent and I was surrounded by forest and nature during my childhood.
I work exclusively with digital cameras. That allows me not only to capture the images but also permits me to create photography art with my computer. Most of my photographs are not computer manipulated, while others I have manipulated to produce a particular mood or effect.
